Mabel the Rescue Dog

Happy Thanksgiving from Mabel! I know Thanksgiving is an exciting holiday for many humans in the United States, but for a dog like me, it’s not the best day of the year. Why? Because my birthday is coming up, and that’s the best day of all! Many of the human Thanksgiving foods are not dog-friendly, but on my birthday, I get so many tasty treats! Molly usually gets me my own toy too.

On Sunday, November 29th, I’m turning 7 years old! That’s right, 7 years old! I’m entering senior dog territory, but I’m okay with that. I’ve always been a lazy pup, so now my age is an excuse to be even lazier. Thankfully, no matter how old I get, Molly always thinks I’m the cutest dog in the world. And I think so too.

Luckily, I’m very healthy for my age. My vet always has good things to say about me. While I could use a good teeth cleaning soon (as every dog should), I have no other major health concerns. So, I should be able to live a long fulfilling life, which means I’m not scared of getting older. Birthdays mean more treats, and I couldn’t be happier about it!

I just want to say a huge thank you to Molly for rescuing me. If she hadn’t given me a warm, loving home when I had none, who knows where I’d be today? Thanks to her, I’m able to reach my 7th birthday without a worry in the world. This is one of the many reasons why adopting dogs is so important. You’re giving that dog a chance to thrive and be happy after a not-so-great past.

Happy 7th birthday to me, and happy Thanksgiving to all the humans out there. I hope you enjoy your turkey and mashed potatoes just as much as I’ll enjoy my birthday cookie.
