I’ve known about the Wisconsin Humane Society for a while now because Molly and I used to live in Wisconsin! When she was looking for a dog, she stopped by some of their locations. However, I decided to write about them because they’ve been in the news a lot lately and I think it’s good to support them for the amazing work they do.
The Wisconsin Humane Society has locations all over Wisconsin in order to provide enough space for all the dogs looking for homes. They are committed to saving as many animals as possible, and they can successfully do that thanks to all the amazing donations they receive.

One of the reasons this shelter receives so many generous donations is because they’re very creative with fundraising. In fact, their recent fundraiser is what inspired me to write about them this week. In fact, it even inspired my comic fundraiser!
They have lots of fun events to help dogs in need, but their most recent one was unlike anything I’d ever heard of. The staff and volunteers at the humane society decided to draw people’s dogs for $15. All the proceeds would go to animals in need.
However, they never promised that the drawings would be good. In fact, they made it very clear that the results would be all over the place. Some drawings were very detailed while others could’ve been drawn by a 1st grader. Even so, these drawings were soon in very high demand!
Within only a day, they had to close the event because they were already getting behind on drawings. They ended up raising over $12,000 with these silly portraits! What a great way to help animals in need.

Even without amusing drawings, this shelter can still use as many donations as possible. If you’d like to help them save more dogs, please donate to help make a difference. And who knows? Maybe they’ll do another fundraiser like this soon!
In fact, this fundraiser sounds so fun that I think Molly and I have recently decided to try something similar. If you donate to any rescue or shelter, we’ll create a comic of your dog! Click here to find out more information!
And as always, if you have a rescue dog of your own with a story to share, please contact us to get them featured on my blog! Let’s encourage more dog lovers to adopt!
