Mikey’s Chance Canine Rescue is another rescue that Molly and I learned about after seeing it on the news recently. This rescue is in Washington, but all the dogs are in individual foster homes in the area.
They focus specifically on saving high-risk dogs in Washington and Idaho. They typically look for dogs that have been at the shelter for a long time and dogs that are running out of time. They don’t turn their backs on any dogs. They are determined to find a home for each dog, no matter how difficult.
Mikey’s Chance has a goal to find the best possible match for dogs and humans. Every dog deserves to be with the family that’s perfectly suited for them, so this rescue works hard to make that goal come to life.
Because this rescue is so determined to give a good life to every dog, they recently gained popularity. Molly and I came across a story about a dog named Eddie who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He was given only a few months to live, but this rescue knew that they could make those few months worth it.
Since then, the rescue has created a bucket list for Eddie. He has gone on many amazing adventures such as riding in a fire truck, having a spa day, and jumping into a pool of stuffed animals. He even got to become an honorary K9 officer for a day!
Other places might’ve given up on Eddie, but thanks to Mikey’s Chance, he is having the time of his life! Of course, it will be sad when his life comes to an end, but at least everyone will know that his last months were amazing for him.
Every shelter and rescue should treat dogs the way Mikey’s Chance does. Every dog deserves the perfect life just like Eddie. Hopefully, this will remind all humans to give their own dogs the best lives too!
