Encourage Dog Lovers to Adopt 💕

3 min read (Articles narrated by Mabel)

As much as we love our dogs, there are times when people can’t properly care for their pups. We are a part of the family, so we need to be fed, looked after, and loved just like your human family members are. Not every dog parent is able to fully commit to their dog, so sometimes tough decisions need to be made. It’s a sad thing to think about, but I feel like it has to be said.

If you can’t care for your dog, that’s okay! As long as you do what’s best for them, that’s what matters. However, there are so many humans that choose to get rid of their dogs in the worst ways possible, which needs to stop! So, what should you do if you have a dog you can’t take care of?

What’s the Right Thing to Do?

Just because you can’t properly care for your dog doesn’t mean that no one can. There are plenty of loving humans out there that would love to open their home to a dog in need. So, the right thing to do is to always make sure your dog is well-cared for. If you can’t provide for them, then help them find a new loving home that will give them the life they deserve.

If there’s someone close to you that’s looking for a new family member, that might be a good place to start. Someone that’s familiar with your dog could be the perfect new family for them. Of course, there’s no guarantee that someone you know will be able to adopt your dog, but it’s good to at least try.

However, if you can’t find someone you know to adopt your dog, don’t give up! You can still help them find a new home. Shelters and rescues are always willing to help dogs in need if they have the space for them.

These organizations are usually very understanding about these kinds of circumstances, so they won’t judge you for giving up your dog. It’s much better to be responsible and give your dog to someone that can help them instead of abandoning them or keeping them when you know you can’t provide for them.

What Should You NEVER Do?

NEVER abandon your dog no matter the circumstances. I have seen too many stories of dogs getting left on the side of the road or tied to a pole in the middle of nowhere. It’s heartbreaking and no dog deserves to go through that!

If you drop your dog off at a shelter, at least you know that they’re being cared for. They’ll have a roof over their head and food to eat. Plus, they have the chance to get adopted by an amazing new family.

If you abandon your dog, the chances of them living a happy life are very slim, especially if you leave them somewhere where no one can find them. No dog should live their last days wondering why their family left them alone and never returned.

Even if you’re not a huge dog lover like Molly, you still need to remember that dogs are living creatures. They have feelings and needs just like you do. Abandoning a dog is a form of animal cruelty that should never happen. Think about your dog’s future instead of just thinking about yourself.

Most dog parents are very loving and responsible when it comes to their furry friends, but clearly, that’s not the case for everyone. Always be responsible when it comes to your dog and never do something that could hurt them in the long run.

And that goes for cats too! All three of my cats were cruelly abandoned, they did not deserve that. Great post.
