Hi, my name is Ozzie! I was rescued back in 2014, and I was only 1 year old at the time. I originally came from Alabama, but I was sent to JR’s Pups-N-Stuff in Wisconsin to avoid a high-kill shelter.
I met my family for the first time at a foster event at a PetCo. Right away, I knew it was meant to be, but I was a little nervous. The trip from Alabama to Wisconsin had been exhausting, and some of the other dogs weren’t so nice to me. I think one of them even attacked me because my ear was in a lot of pain afterwards.
At first, I didn’t like other dogs very much and I was afraid of some people, especially men. I don’t really remember much before I was adopted, but I think I was probably abused at some point, which is why I was so nervous back then. My family quickly learned that I only walked well if I was on a harness due to my fearful and aggressive behaviors.
During my first vet appointment, I learned that I had heartworm. This was not fun because even though I was with my nice new family, I couldn’t run or jump around at first.

However, I am now 7 years old! I am healthy, but I am starting to get some gray hairs! I am doing much better than I was before, and I am so grateful that I was adopted. I love other people now, and I have gotten much better around other dogs as well.
I get along very well with my cat brother, Eddie. I love to snuggle with him, play with his toys, and even groom him. My family says that sometimes I act more like a cat than a dog!
My family was new to having a dog when they adopted me, so they had a lot to learn, but they did a great job helping me adjust to my new surroundings. If it wasn’t for them, who knows where I’d be today? By adopting me, they gave me a happier life, and I am very thankful for that!
